Susan has been working in Private Practice in the Ponsonby area for the past 10 years. She has almost 20 years experience as a Clinical Psychologist, working in Auckland and in London. She uses Cognitive Behaviour Therapy as the framework for dealing with most issues, and has training in many specialised applications of Cognitive Therapy, including the Anxiety Disorders, and Depression. Susan has experience with a wide range of adult mental health issues and has completed training in the UK for Cognitive Schema Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, and Cognitive Therapy for a variety of mental health issues. She also offers Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Mindfulness and mind-body approaches. Gavriel has 23 years experience as a psychotherapist and Psychologist in the General Scope of Practice. He trained at Auckland University and the Chiron Centre, London. In the last 13 years he has specialised in the treatment of the Anxiety disorders, and has held senior positions in specialist clinics. He has taught and done research on the links between the anxiety disorders and substance use; and in the treatment of panic disorder following anaphylactic shock. The therapies he uses are, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Mindfulness Training. He is now in full time private practice in Ponsonby and the North Shore.

Leena graduated from Auckland University as a Clinical Psychologist in 1996. She has worked within public mental health and physical health services as well as within academic institutions and corporate settings. Leena specialises in gynaecological and sexual difficulties, including infertility, and continues to lecture and publish in these topics. Leena often uses a cognitive-behavioural approach (CBT) within a bio-psychosocial framework. The one hour appointment takes the form of a collaborative discussion and is guided by your stated goals.

Lynley has over 20 years experience as a Clinical Psychologist. She trained at Otago University, Dunedin and has worked in both acute inpatient and public mental health outpatient settings. Lynley was a founder member of the specialist Cognitive Therapy Centre at Waitemata District Health Board, and was previously a Senior Lecturer in the Post Graduate Diploma for Cognitive Behaviour Therapy at Massey University. Lynley has a strong background in CBT with ongoing professional training from the Beck Institute in Philadelphia and the Newcastle Cognitive Therapy Centre in England. She has been in private practice part-time since 2002.

Dr Kirsten van Kessel is an experienced Clinical Psychologist and holds a PhD in Psychology, a Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Psychology and a Post Graduate Diploma in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. Aside from working in private practice, Kirsten lectures in psychology at the University of Auckland. She has previously worked in public mental health settings and a specialist cognitive behaviour therapy service. Kirsten specializes in cognitive behaviour therapy for a range of difficulties including anxiety and depression, stress and worry, sleep, coping with chronic illness, chronic pain, irritable bowel syndrome, fatigue, loss and grief, alcohol and drug issues.
